Decoding Traffic Sign Colors

For new drivers, learning the ways of the road can be daunting. To help new drivers navigate, we’re offering these helpful tips to understand what different color road signs mean.

RED:  When you see a red sign, it means stop, do not enter, wrong way.

WHITE:  A white sign will display a regulatory message, such as a speed limit.

YELLOW:  You will see yellow signs conveying a general warning message.

GREEN:  Green signs show permitted traffic movements or directional guidance.

FLUORESCENT YELLOW/GREEN:  These are pedestrian, bicycle, and school warning signs.

ORANGE:  Orange signs will warn you of upcoming construction and maintenance.

BLUE:  Blue signs are road user services, tourist information, and evacuation route signs.

BROWN:  Brown signs provide public recreation or cultural interest site guidance.
